The inauguration of the Quantum Computing Lab will take place on Monday, March 2 at 11:00, at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Padova, with the special participation of Institutional representatives, experts of the field and the actor Andrea Pennacchi. The new laboratory focuses on trapped-ion quantum computers, where electrically charged atoms (ions) are controlled with laser pulses to perform quantum computations. These systems exploit quantum effects such as superposition and entanglement to tackle complex problems beyond the reach of classical computers, with potential applications ranging from drug discovery to advanced scientific research. On Wednesday, December 17 at 2:00 p.m., the Italian General Assembly on Quantum Technologies took place, an important opportunity to exchange views and reflect together on the future of these technologies in Italy. The event was held at Corsie Sistine, Borgo Santo Spirito 1, Rome, and can be watched at the following YouTube link .

This event aims to connect the newly established Alleanza Quantistica Italiana (AQI) with the Boston academic ecosystem.Organized as a closing event of the International Year of Quantum and the official kickoff of the Italian Quantum Alliance, the workshop seeks to create a lasting bridge between these two scientific communities. By bringing together leading experts from Boston, Italy, and Europe, the workshop will identify common research themes and open challenges that can guide the development of scalable quantum technologies and accelerate their transition to real-world applications.
